Even though the teams for the last 6 seasons have been in different divisions and only playing once this game is steeped in history and rivalry with heart brake for both teams.In the hot summer of 1976 Southampton, who were in the old Division 2 which is now the Championship, got to the FA Cup final against the odds and faced Man U, who were in the old Division 1 which is now the Premiership. Man U were odds on favourites to win the clash after finishing 3rd in the Division 1 that season and Saints mi sing out on a play off place. My dad then asked me what I thought the score would be. I can remember saying 3-0 to Saints and all three goals coming from Matthew Le Ti sier. I got one thing right Le Ti s did score 3 that day but the score was 6-3 to Saints instead of 3-0.
