Rishabh Pant To Return To Cricket In IPL 2024: BCCI has declared that wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is fit to take the field and return to competitive cricket ahead of the 2024 season of the IPL.
Pant was in a gruesome high-speed car crash in December 2022. Despite the intensity of the crash and how lucky he was to survive it, Pant got away from the scene with no life-altering injuries.
After being treated for his several broken bones, the Delhi native underwent intense rehab under BCCI’s watch at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
Back then, no concrete timeline was provided for Pant’s rehab. By the time IPL 2023 came around, Rishabh was still seen on crutches. While some speculated that he might participate in the 0223 Cricket World Cup, that did not happen.
Late last year, Pant, who is the regular captain of the Delhi Capitals in the IPL, was part of the crew at the auction table for the Capitals. A few days after, the franchise released an emotional video, tracking Pant’s recovery and return to the pitch.
Rishabh Pant To Return To Cricket In IPL 2024
With the IPL being only 10 days away, BCCI has taken to social media to announce that Rishabh Pant is now fit and will participate in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League.
“After undergoing an extensive 14-month rehab and recovery process, following a life-threatening road mishap on December 30th, 2022, @RishabhPant17 has now been declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming #TATA @IPL 2024,” updated BCCI on X (formerly Twitter).
In the absence of Pant, David Warner captained Delhi Capitals in 2023 to disastrous results, as the side finished ninth on the table. Rishabh is not only the captain of the side but is an excellent keeper and an attack-minded middle-order batter not only for DC but for any side he plays.
Pant’s return to cricket also sparks hope over his return to the national side ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies and the USA in June-July of this year.
