A tough lesson learnt Peterborough Unit

On 14 occasions this season Peterborough United have come from behind in a game to grab some points. However going 3-0 down was pushing their luck a little too far as Posh slumped to their second defeat in five days.To be fair Posh only have themselves to blame for this one, there were just far too many mistakes but the game was an emotional rollercoaster. The matchhad been hyped up as one to watch as both Posh and Barnsley are known for their pa sing game. Also both teams were glued on 24 points stuck right in the middle of the Championship table.Peterborough were going into thegameafter Reggie Perry Jersey losing 3-2 on Tuesday against Reading, one of the very few games in which Posh had managed to score the first goal. Barnsley on the other hand were on a high after beating Yorkshire rivals Leeds 2-1 last Saturday.Darren Ferguson made a surprise change to his team before the game with Joe Lewis replacing Paul Jones to make his first appearance since the play-off legs way back in May. Jones had played every game of the season so far and had been playing well so rumours floating around said the swap was merely a chance to show Lewis off in a bid to off-load him in the January transfer window. The key to winning this game seemed to be in getting that first goal as Barnsley had only bagged the one point all season after going behind. Both teams started the game strongly Derrick Coleman Jersey with former Posh player Luke Steele standing firm in the Barnsley goal to prevent Grant McCann, George Boyd and Lee Tomlin. At the other end Joe Lewis wasnt tested too much, that was until on 18 minutes when the scoring was opened courtesy of a Jim OBrian shot which cruelly deflected off Gabriel Zakuani giving Lewis no chance in goal.Again it was Posh with the chances this time with Paul Taylor having a try. Preferably posh would have wanted a goal to go into the break on level terms however their plans backfired when Barnsley doubled their lead on 45+1 minutes thanks to Jacob Butterfield. We all know Posh can come from behind, they had previously worked backed back from 2-0 down against Millwall and Derby but when seconds after coming off the bench Ricardo Vaz Te fired home on 78 minutes any hopes of a come Garrett Temple Jersey -back had all but faded. At this point Darren Ferguson threw everything at the game making a triple substitution on the hour mark. Danny Kearns, Ryan Tunnicliffe and Lee Frecklington came on for Tom Kennedy, Grant McCann and Emile Sinclair respectively. If youre a regular at London Road youll know nothing is impo sible but I can guarantee no one would have expected what was about to come, an incredible three goals in six minutes! The first came courtesy of Boyd on 64 minutes who steered the ball past the near post of Steele. This really got the confidence flowing and four minutes later Ryan Tunnicliffe had his name on the score sheet. The Tyler Johnson Jersey belief was high and just two minutes later the remarkable come-back was complete when Frecklington curled the ball past Steele. At this point the game was anyones, neither team were giving up and neither were happy with just the point. Sadly the leakiest defence in the league just couldnt hold on and Barnsley found themselves back in the lead on 78 minutes when Craig Davies fired home an unstoppable shot.Posh still didn Julius Erving Jersey t give up and threw forward everything they could in a bid to get that crucial fourth goal but Luke Steele just couldnt be beaten again, Lee Tomlin coming to closest on numerous occasions. This win gave Barnsley their third consecutive league win for the first time in over a year and their third away league win of the season, equal to the total they achieved in the whole of last season. Posh slumped even further down the league, to 16th, but still in a positive position.
